Larry Jorgenson from Bella Bella Awarded BC Community Achievement Award for 2012!

Congratulations Larry!  Larry Jorgenson has been selected to receive a BC Community Achievement Award for his work as Executive Director at Heiltsuk’s Qqs (Eyes) Projects Society.  Larry has been instrumental in helping to form the vision for the Coastal Guardian Watchmen and was one of the driving forces behind the establishment of the Network and the development of the Guardian Watchmen training program.  Larry is a mentor and provides wise counsel for those of us involved in resource stewardship on the Coast.

Environmentalism, youth engagement, education, restorative justice, and cultural revitalization are just a few of the areas where Larry has left his mark over the past 33 years in the Heiltsuk community of Bella Bella. He has helped to raise a generation of young people who know their own power.  He truly deserves this award and we are proud of him and thank Larry for all his great work.
